Jira Integration Overview

The Jira integration allows you to connect your Jira tickets directly to your OKR workflow in OKR Studio. Link tickets to objectives and key results to maintain full traceability and track implementation progress.

Prerequisites

Before You Begin

  • • You need administrative access to your Jira instance
  • • Your Jira instance must be accessible from the internet
  • • You'll need to create an API token or app password
  • • Ensure your OKR Studio plan supports integrations
Step 1: Configure Jira

For Jira Cloud

  1. 1

    Create an API Token

    Go to your Atlassian Account settings → Security → API tokens

  2. 2

    Generate New Token

    Click "Create API token" and provide a descriptive label (e.g., "OKR Studio Integration")

  3. 3

    Copy the Token

    Save this token securely - you'll need it for the OKR Studio configuration

For Jira Server/Data Center

  1. 1

    Create Application Link

    Go to Administration → Applications → Application links

  2. 2

    Configure OAuth

    Set up OAuth credentials for secure authentication

  3. 3

    Note the Details

    Save your server URL, consumer key, and consumer secret

Required Permissions

The Jira user or application needs the following permissions:

  • • Browse projects
  • • View issues
  • • Edit issues (for status updates)
  • • Create issues (optional)
Step 2: Configure OKR Studio

    Navigate to Integrations

    Go to Settings → Integrations in your OKR Studio workspace

    Enable Jira Integration

    Click on the Jira tab and toggle "Enable Jira Integration" to ON

    Enter Connection Details

    Fill in the following information:

    • Jira URL: Your Atlassian site URL (e.g., https://your-domain.atlassian.net)
    • Username/Email: Your Jira account email address
    • API Token: The token you created in Step 1

    Test Connection

    Click "Test Connection" to verify your configuration and load available projects

  5. 5

    Select Default Project

    Choose a default project from the dropdown or enter a project key manually

  6. 6

    Save Configuration

    Click "Save Settings" to activate the integration

Configuration Complete

Once configured, you'll be able to link Jira tickets to your OKRs and team items throughout OKR Studio.

Once configured, you can link Jira tickets to various items in OKR Studio:

How to Link Tickets

  1. 1. Open the item you want to link (objective, key result, etc.)
  2. 2. Look for the "Linked Issues" or "Jira Tickets" section
  3. 3. Click "Link Jira Ticket" or the "+" button
  4. 4. Search for or enter the Jira ticket key (e.g., PROJ-123)
  5. 5. Select the ticket and click "Link"

The integration automatically syncs ticket status updates between Jira and OKR Studio:

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Connection Failed

  • • Verify your Jira URL is correct and accessible
  • • Check that your API token hasn't expired
  • • Ensure your user has the required permissions
  • • Verify network connectivity between systems

Tickets Not Syncing

  • • Check the integration status in Settings → Integrations
  • • Verify the linked ticket exists and is accessible
  • • Review sync logs for error messages
  • • Try unlinking and re-linking the ticket

Permission Errors

  • • Ensure your Jira user has "Browse projects" permission
  • • Check that you can access the linked project
  • • Verify "View issues" permission is granted
  • • Contact your Jira administrator if needed
